People living in the states where a free credit report is provided annually should request a copy of their credit report by calling: 1-800-685-1111. (For a list of these states, check “Circumstances Under Which a Credit Report is Provided Free” in the Information Booth).

People living in all other states are required to pay a $9.00 fee. There are states where the fee is less expensive. Additionally, if you have been denied credit within the last sixty days or are on welfare or unemployed, you are entitled to one free credit report via U.S. Mail.

If you meet either of these circumstances, request a copy of your credit report by calling 1-800-997-2493 or writing to the above address.

There will be a $9 fee for all credit reports unless otherwise mandated by law.

If you believe you have been a victim of fraud and would like to see a copy of your credit report, call Experian at: 1-888-397-3742 and select the fraud option.

To request a report if you have been declined credit, insurance, housing, or employment, or have had other adverse action taken with the last 60 days as a result of information in an Experian report, call: 1-888-397-3742 and follow the automated instructions.

To request a report if you are unemployed and seeking employment within the next 60 days or if you receive public welfare assistance, send a request in writing to:

If you have been denied or were otherwise notified of an adverse action related to credit, employment, insurance, or a government license or other government granted benefit within the last 60 days and a TransUnion credit report was used in the process, you are entitled to a free copy of your TransUnion report.

You are also entitled to a free copy of your TransUnion report once during any 12 month period if you certify to TransUnion that you are either:

1). Employed and intent to apply for employment within 60 days
2). A recipient of public welfare assistance
3). Have reason to believe that your information on file at TransUnion contains inaccurate information due to fraud

You may be asked to provide documentation of any one of these circumstances.
